hi people,

Seems that I have the Oracle 8 client tools installed on my Win XP Pro pc.

I need to install Oracle 10g client as well.

Will 10g play well with version 8 or should I remove/uninstall the Oracle 8 client before installing 10g client?

Thanks, John

We can close this post. The Oracle 10 Client install did not find any pre-existing Oracle tools.

10g Client installed successfully.

Thanks.

Hi,
There can still be an issue depending on your workstation's PATH variable..If the v8 bin is ahead of the
v10g one, ther could be 10g tool issues ..It is always preferable to clean out previous versions..The Installer did not detect the v8 stuff due to its age..it used a totally different install method ..

Also, I have a mixture of 8i, 9i, and 10G databases and a number of 8i and 10g version tools. I used to have an 8i client and removed it and installed the 10G client. The client works well with all versions of the database and tools with no problems.
