Hi all

Does anyone know if I can install Oracle 9i on a Windows Home Edition machine. I actually gave it a try yesterday but the machine hang after 10min.

Thanks

Hi,
Not sure but check the Oracle site, I do not think it is listed as being supported.
If you mean to install the database and the client tools, you will need lots of memory and disk space.

What Processor, memory, disk space, etc is on your PC..

Where in the install process did it 'hang'?

It not only isn't supported, I have seen MANY messages from users who tried and failed.

Hi all,

Thanks for your replies. After a few attempt installing Oracle on Win Home edition I realized that it's not supported. I've also been looking at the BETA version of Oracle 10g Express Edition. Still haven't had any luck with this version. According to Oracle the 10G Express edition is supporting Windows operating systems. Not saying which ones though.

Cheers
Erik

As its a BETA its not on Metalink compatability charts, but you can bet it won't be certified for use with XP Home

ORACLE XE was produced from the 10G code. If 10G doesn't support XP home, XE most likely won't either.
