I have a user that is trying to install Office 2000 on a Windows ME PC. It is an HP, current model computer. I installed it with no problem on my dad's Dell Windows ME computer. She says it won't even let her get to the screen where you type in your name and the CD key. Has anyone else experienced this kind of problem? If so, how do you get around it?

Installing Office 2K on Windows ME

The experience I'm relating has nothing to do with Office directly, but twice in the past month while trying to install software that refused to "get itself started" or hangs up in-progress, I noticed that the CD drive kept spinning up and down. This was causing erratic results while trying to perform the install: stops just short of the end, next time it won't auto-start, next time it starts but won't continue...
Is this happening to you? If so, your CD drive needs replacing.
