installing norton's antivirus

How do I install Nortons 2002 on my computer? I have the upgrade and all info. but when I try it gives me an error message saying it wont have live update then uninstalls itself.

What is the OS of your PC?
Is this an UPGRADE or a new COPY? GlennA

My os is xp and it is a new copy. I had 98 on it and installed xp prof. full version.

Uninstall the Norton 98 version first.
Reboot.
Then install the new version. GlennA

I'm sorry, I told you wrong. I have the 2002 Nortons AntiVirus install disk and I renewed it on the internet when my subscription expired. Don't actually have an updated disk. I have the subscription verification and order confirmation from Symantec though. Sorry

Are you logged into the local PC as Administrator for the update? If not, try that first.

After that Symantec and "chat" tech, I think, which may be free. GlennA
