i have a server setup with DHCP ,DC,and domain controller.
i assigned it a static
ip of 192.168.16.12
gateway: 192.168.16.254

the gateway is the old modem.
we got a new modem and when i plug it in , the default ip on that is 192.168.1.254

my question is how do i get the new modem to link back to the 192.168.16 domain ? do i manually change the IP on the modem? or do i change my static ips to 1's instead of 16's?

or do i change somthing in my DHCP like add a mac address to assign to ip to 192.168.16.254 so i don't lose my settings?

please direct me the proper way to doing this.
thanks.

Change the IP on the modem to match the old one(without me having to ask why you use a modem, etc.).

I'm Certifiable, not cert-ified.

There are no more PDC's! There are DC's with FSMO roles!

when i first plug in the modem. i would get in the interface by 192.168.1.254 and while in the interface as soon as i try to change to 192.168.16.254 it will refresh and i can't get int othe modem interface anymore and i would have to click on the manual reset button. to connect to it again.

THen you need to contact the modem manufacturer and discuss the issue with them.
