Hello,
.
I am trying to use Software Distribution 4.1 to install Ms Office 2000. Has anyone been able to get this to work? I have tried a redirected install and a non-redirected install but have had no luck. I followed the directions as stated in the "An Introduction to Tivoli Software Distribution 4.0" redbook, which explained how to map and un-map the installation drive, but I need to use the additional functionality in SD 4.1 to import the MSI package and set the options as defined in the "Tivoli Software Distribution 4.1: New Features and Scenarios" redbook.
.
I have tried the msiexec.exe from the command line and got Office to install but I did not see how to provide a License Key, and when I started MS Word I was asked for the License Key. I have reviewed the documentation on the msiexec.exe command but do not see a switch for providing the License Key.
.
The (4.0) Redbook had the following syntax:
msiexec /qn /i path\msoffice\data1.msi /ilev ALLUSERS=1)
But this syntax produced an error indicating invalid parameters
.
This is the command I used to manually initiate a silent install w/no license key
msiexec /qn /i path\msoffice\data1.msi ALLUSERS=1
(Note: I needed to drop the /ilev switch(s) to get it to run.)
.
When I tried this install From Tivoli Software Distribution 4.1 I received the following error:
.
Distribution ID: `1199633691.97'
Current software package status is 'IC--E'.
Operation unsuccessful.
The following error messages have been generated during software package Ms Office 2000.1.0 status validation:
The requested operation is not allowed for the software package Ms Office 2000.1.0
Any help would be greatly appreciated
