Hi

I am wondering if the following home setup is possible with MDaemon 7 (and if yes, how?):

1- MDaemon collects e-mails from external POP servers
2- E-mail client connects to MDaemon to get e-mails
3- When replying to e-mails from e-mail client, the "From" e-mail address is not from the MDaemon Primary Domain, but from the domain specified by the e-mail client.

Example:

1- MDaemon primary domain is "myhomemail.com".
2- MDaemon set up to get mail from external POP servers "abc.com" and "def.com"
3- E-mail client connects to MDaemon to retreive mail addressed from "abc.com" and "def.com"
4- User replies from e-mail client using "user@abc.com" and "user@def.com" accounts through MDaemon server
5- When recipients receive the mails, the "From" are specified as "user@abc.com" and "user@def.com".

Essentially, I just want MDaemon to forward the replies to the destination SMTP servers. I don't really want to use the Primary Domain stuff because I do not intend on hosting mail at home, I just want it all to come through MDaemon so that I can use the anti-spam and groupware features. I want all the mail coming in to go through one spot so that I can do all the spam checks etc before the mail gets delivered to my wife's/kids' accounts.

Any thoughts/instructions?

There may be some gap in my logic as this is my first attempt at using MDaemon. Please bear with me.

If mdaemon is doing a pop collection from one account then why not set your email client's outgoing (SMTP) server to that of the ISP?

Hmmm...sounds so simple. Your suggestion would definitely solve my problem, I think. Thanks.

I guess I wanted MDaemon to do all the relaying for me both on receipt and sending. MDaemon has so many features, it's a little overwhelming. Is there another mail server that is more appropriate for the home (while still being able to perform the tasks highlighhed above)?
