i have a netware server that i wish to totally convert to linux. must i have windows installed to do this? how else could i install from what is now a basic dos machine?

thanx for all of your previous help

gary

If your machine can boot from the cd, set the cd rom as the first boot device, pop in the first Mandrake cd and reboot.

i can't get the floppy install nor the cdrom to boot up even when i have selected the cd as bootable.???

And you're sure the cd is good... try it on a windows machine as a test (exit the installation if it boots of course).

I've had very similar problems with mandrake 9.1. The CD wont boot and the floppy wont boot. Another CD and a dos floppy will boot on my machine but not the Mandrake 9.1 cd
I have now tried the CD in another machine and it works fine in that one. There just seems to be a problem with particular CD drives. The second machine that did work is actually the one I wanted to put it onto I was just trying to use the partition resizing bit of the installer on the problem machine so its no real big issue to me.
