Hello,

I'm a noob to FreeBSD, particulary when it comes to installing stuff.

Has anyone ever installed ImageMagick on FreeBSD?

Basically, The main thing i need to know is regarding directory structure.

I've FTP'd the latest tar.gz build of IM to the server and moved to the /var directory (not sure if I should be putting it there). But where should I do the actual installation?

If anyone knows of a decent FreeBSD specific instalation guide, please let me know. I've been unable to find one in a week of searching.

Thanks
Aaron

Hi Wishdiak,

There is no ports directory in the usr dir.

I did a search: find / -name "ports" -print

But came up with nothing. Not sure if I did that right though.

I will keep looking. But question: You said install it from ports/graphics/ImageMagick. Do you mean move the tar.gz and extract and compile in that dir?

Thanks for your help.
