I'm trying to install HP-UX with a 64 bit kernel. I don't see an option during the setup process that allows me to specify this. Can someone confirm that while during the setup there is an option to select a 64 bit install? Or maybe that there are different versions of HP-UX, a 32 bit Version and a 64 bit version and possibly I have the wrong CD?

Thanks guys,

Hi,
You might get a Faster answer if you ask this question over in the

HPUX Forum ( forum51 )

Also the 64-bit HPUX requires either a 64-bit PA RISC Chip or an Intel Itanium II 64-bit chip.

I would assume the underlying CHIP architecture is discovered during the install and the correct software is installed without user intervention.

swlist | grep 64*

should see HP-UX 64-bit Base OS

Thanks for the replies, I've re-posted to the correct forum just in case. I'm fairly certain the hardware supports 64bit. The box is a HP9000 D380.

Thanks
