I'm trying to install W2K on my laptop using a parallel port backpack cd-rom. The Dell will not boot from this cd-rom, I have not tried to creat the boot disks yet, but will this work? Are the backpack drives on thos disks? Will the install continue from the cd after the first reboot?

Thanks a lot

The 4 setup disks did not work. The setup routine could not find a cdrom. Any ideas of how to install from this cdrom?

Boot into dos and setup the cd-rom from there.

I had a similar problem setting up Win2K on my laptop. As it turns out there's a special set of drivers available on their web site (the backpack company) for doing clean installs on Win2k. Once I dowloaded the drivers and ran them, the setup went like a dream.
