Hello,
I am newbie to the Unix world. I have limited experience with Linux also, so be gentle.
I am trying to install FreeBSD on a machine that does not support bootable CDs. I followed the instructions in the install.htm file. They said, in DOS, to make 2 floppies with FDIMAGE KERN.FLP A: and FDIMAGE MFSROOT.FLP A:. I did that and they seemed to take, but I cannot boot to them.
Anything stand out to what I may have done wrong? Thanks,

Matt Wray

What exactly was the error message you received when you tried to boot them? When asking for help, it's always best to be very specific about the conditions you encounter.

Also, you might want to read thread93-365289 -------------------------------------------

There is no message, it simply does not boot. It stays at a black screen with a cursor flashing in the corner... This machine is a piece of junk, maybe a hardware issue. I'll try booting to a Windows boot disk for a test and post back... Thanks,

Matt Wray

Well, this is the end of this thread. The boot disks are OK, I just tested them on another machine and they started up. So, I'll now try and figure out what the heck is wrong with the original machine. Thanks anyway Rycamor! Thanks,

Matt Wray
