You're welcome, gerlan.
Glad to hear that it's working, and thanks for posting back with the solution.

I have a similar problem, Installed a 3 + 1 port firewire card last night, Tried every slot but the bios only sees it in slot 5. My XP SP2 will not even find the hardware, help!!!!!!!!! Any suggestions, i am going out of my mind.

Pull all PCI cards not needed, and try the different slots again. (This is to eliminate IRQ conflicts). If it works, put the other cards back in one-by-one. If it still doesn't work, try a different firewire card.

Start > programs > accesories > System tools > System Information > Hardware Resources > IRQs .

I will check tonight and get back, When i checked last night there were a few IRQ missing fro the list, does this mean they are unused?

No good used unused irq, even set it up to force a conflict but windows did not even register its irq value. I have a tool call msi DMI viwer which reports the pci slot 5 is in use, yet windows just will not pick it up,i am slowly losing my patience with this now and on the verge of buying a new mobo withh IEEE intergrated.
