Hi,

I tried installing the Exchange System Management tools (Exchg2K) on a Win2K-SP3 Native Mode server on which the System Management Tools for Exchg5.5 were previously installed...and removed. That server is not the one running Exchange 2000.

For some reason the installation program still see "traces" of the previous System Management Tools (Exchg5.5) and will not allow me to only install the Management Tools for Exchg2K...it wants to install the Exchange Server 2000 and I cannot uncheck any of the options.

Are there specific Registry entries I should edit/remove in order to remove remaining debris from the previous tools and be able to perform the installation of only the Exchg2K System Management Tools ?

Any help would be much appreciated,
Thanks,
Claude

I found the solution to my own problem...
The reason I needed to install the "Exchange Management System" on that particular server is that it is a requirement from our backup software (Veritas). When the Exchange server is not located on the same server as the one where Veritas softw. is installed, the "Exchange Management System" is required to be installed on that server in order to be able to backup & delete transaction files on the Exchg. Server.

The solution is explained in TechNote ID: 232687 and 237401 on http:\\seer.support.veritas.com/docs/232687.htm and http:\\seer.support.veritas.com/docs/237401.htm.

I hope this will be helpful to someone...

Claude
