installing DIALS and LPFK on 43P-7248/AIX 4.3.2

I finally got a dials and lpfk with the correct (2) power supplies and Y-cable. I plugged them in to the proper serial port output on the 43P, booted up into smit/green screen, and went into devices. The dials went in just fine. Then the lpfk hiccuped and gave me an error message:

METHOD ERROR (/usr/lib/methods/cfgsgio)
0514-040 Error initializing a device
into the kernal

I tried swapping power supplies, cable, even other physical dials/lpfk, and even leaving out the dials. same story. Do I
have a problem in the AIX 4.3.2? Any ideas?

It is possible that there is an APAR to fix this problem. There are similar problems with cfgescsi (getting method errors) in 5.1 that I know of and there is an APAR for that. Unfortunately, I don't think IBM supports 4.3.2 anymore, just 4.3.3 and 5.1.
