I have just installed a new Western Digital Harddrive 80GB on my Sony Vaio computer. Drive is partitioned 40/20/20. I now need to install operating system. When I boot using Win98 Startupdisk I can access the CDROM but the 3 partitions are not found hance when I try to run setup it fails.

When I boot from the harddrive. All parttions are found correctly but now I cannot access the CDROM.

Can anyone help how I can get around this problem so I can install teh operating system

How did you partition the drive? (Was it utility that came with the drive? Are there any issues with your motherboard/bios being able to recognise the full 80GB size of your hard drive?)
Its usually best to use the tools that come with the version of windows you're installing - so in this case use fdisk on the win98 boot floppy (you might need this fix from M$ -
