I wanted to put this out there in hope of steaming some of the PAIN and ANGUISH I experienced trying to get this to work. Many thanks to all the folks who have come before me. It is with all the previous research that I was finally able to get this to work.

Platform: IBM xSeries 335 w/2 Gig memory, single 40 gig hard drive
CCM version: 4.1(3), that uses two disks

After about 6 ground up attempts this is EXACTLY what I did that was successful. I think the biggest problem was the additional updates from MS that weren't exactly compatible with CCM. Based on what I've picked up from Cisco the OS updates from them should take care of any critical updates anyway.

1) Install W2k Advanced Server with:
Accessories and Utilities,
Indexing Service,
IIS,
Management and Monitoring tools

2) Assign an IP address, DNS and default gateway (can not be DHCP)

3) Install IE6 Service Pack 1 (ie6setup.exe)

4) Install W2k SP4 (W2KSP4_EN.EXE) DO NOT INSTALL ANY ADDITIONAL UPDATES

5) Install the old MS Java (msjavx86.exe) I'm not positive this is necessary but...

6) Modify the registry
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Cisco Systems\Model]
“Hardware”=”MCS7835”
“Memory”=”1024”
“Speed”=”733”

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Spirian\System Info\OS Image]
“Version”=”2000.2.5”

7) Give "everyone" read rights to the \winnt\registration folder

8) Install win-OS-upgrade-K9.2000-2-7.exe (The server will reboot several times, I thought it was only twice but maybe it was three)
Install win-OS-upgrade-K9.2000-2-7sr7.exe (It rebooted when it was complete)

9) Copy "shutdown.exe" from c:\program files\cisco\updates\2002.7sr7 to c:\utils

10) Double check in services to make sure IIS is running.

11) Start - Programs - Cisco CallManager 4.1 - Cisco Service Configuration. Turn on the rest of the services that you need and go.

That's it, good luck!

Excellent post wanrules.

Points for you!

Hope this helps.

Bravo!

So which files during the build process are the actual CCM application?

Based on what you've stated here, the CCM portion must be included in the win2k-k9... updates?

JZcomms, nice catch, it's step 11. Keep in mind I have the 2 disk version, so once I started the install off the CD's I just followed the on screen instructions. The trick here appears to be getting the "server" prepared properly for the install, not the actual install itself.

Wanrules,

I have configured several hacked callmanagers and always had problems with the CCMCIP files not having proper file/share rights - which broke access to the corp directory, fastdials, etc. Do you experience this problem with a hacked cm?
