I was thinking you download the patch files and tell the program what the IP address of the BCM is and it does it for you...I very well could be wrong because I'm going from memory which is crap these days...
With BCM 2.5 through BCM 3.7 all patches are stand-alone programs. Just run them and as CrowTalks said it will ask you for the IP address and login credentials. Most patches require at least two reboots.
If you are looking for them they are at Nortel.com but you have to be a Partner to access them. Plus there have not been any patches for the 3.6 since 2008, 2007.
