seems to be some discussion on the order of installition( (ie..application first or Citrixfirst) for for PS 3 environment what do you install first the app or citrix or does it matter?

I would think that if your Operating system and Termincal services are installed then you can install your applications. Once the apps are installed you can then install Citrix? are there any issues with installing applications prior to installing Ctirix PS 3?

there is NO difference, just like you said 'make sure the apps works before publishing'.

Usually I install the OS, TS, SPs, Hotfixes & Updates (make a system image w/ Ghost), then install and test app1 (make a system image w/ Ghost), then install and test app1 (make a system image w/ Ghost)... Deploy the image to the desination server, change the SID & Computer Name w/ NewSID, join the domain and install Presentation Server (manually or via script).

The reason I make so many incremental images, is it's a PITA to start from scratch if one app install blows up the system, when you've already spent a few hours building the server.

Some people deploy just the system image / TS, SPs and Hotfiles, script the Citrix INstall and deploy apps afterwards w/ Citrix Installation Manager.

If you have a bunch of servers to deploy & manager this can be accomplished via programs like visionapp Platform Management Suite:
