I have installed an Access 97 runtime application on my Metaframe server. I was logged in as a domain admin, installed so all users can access the app and finished successfully. My problem is that now only the Administrator can see the application. If I installed in "All Users" mode, why can't I see it?

If you create a new user, can that user see the application?

My guess is that the local profile copies are not getting deleted on your Citrix box(en), and hence not getting updated when you install new apps.

A second thought is that maybe you could publish the application?

I hope this helps CitrixEngineer@yahoo.co.uk

Try giving the Everyone Group the READ permission to the System32 Direcotory (C:\WTSRV\System32). I'm guessing their is an ODBC dll that the users can't access because the Admin created it making him the owner of it. So only he can access it.

This is a common problem with most DB application.

Let us know if that works. Thanks! Dave Namou, MCSE CCEA

Thanks for the replies. My system32 directory actually has Everyone having Modify rights. That doesn't really sound desirable but that's another problem. I also created a new user and they cannot see the app either. After I posted this thread last night I tried publishing the app and it runs just fine when published. So I've avoided the problem by publishing but I still don't know why it doesn't show up for non-admins on the desktop.

Sorry, I misread the problem! I didn't know that you just couldn't see the Shortcut for the app. I was assuming that you couldn't run the app because of some access denied error.

I know you resolved your problem already, but all you needed to do was copy the shortcut to the "All Users" Desktop Folder. The problem was that the shortcut was placed in the Admins Desktop Folder.

Copy the shortcut from...
C:\WTSRV\Profiles\Administrator\Desktop
Only the admin can see the icons in this folder.

To...
C:\WTSRV\Profiles\All Users\Desktop
Everyone can see the icons in this folder

Hope that answers your question!

You know, I was checking out the Profiles directories last night and was wondering if I could do that. But I chickened out, afraid I would mess something up. Glad to hear it's something so easy. Citrix doesn't seem to address this in any of their documentation. Thanks for you help.
