I am currently looking after 650 users on exchange 5.5 using mailsweeper as a filter and relay. I am thinking about installing another mailrelay "mailsweeper" on a second connection to the internet we have for some redundancy if say our mailsweeper machine dies or that internet pipe goe's down mail will still flow. I have a few questions:-
1. If the mx records preference are the same eg 10 for both mailsweeper machines how doe's the mail decide on which mailrelay to hit first "loadbalancing going on".
2. The secondary mailsweeper is intended to be offline until we do need it in case of a failure. Would I be best to setup the mx records to be 10 on the working mailsweeper box and say 15 on the redundant mailsweeper box??
Any info or pointers would be great!!
