has anyone installed the new SMS 2003 Inventory Tool for Microsoft Updates, looks like it just came out on august 5th. I reciently had to change over my site to a new sql server. And was going to reinstall clients, but then i saw this new package. I like it allot, it gets rid of the individual scan tools for windows/office, and just gives you one thing, like microsoft updates website does. When you get it it comes with some hot fixes for sms, including a new client. I was wondering a few things about this new client.
1. Anyone have any problems rolling it out
2. do i need windows installer 3.1 on all of my machines to install future updates
3. anyone have a query to see if the newest client is installed on machines

thanks!

hehe i already did #3 but the first two im still intrested in!

Here's a query i wrote to find out which computers have the old client, it only reports those who have the old client, so that you can make a query based collection out of it to roll out the newest client to:

select ClientVersion, Name, LastLogonUserName from SMS_R_System where ClientVersion = "2.50.3174.1018" and OperatingSystemNameandVersion not like "Microsoft Windows NT Server %" and OperatingSystemNameandVersion not like "Microsoft Windows NT Advanced Server 5.2" order by ClientVersion, Name
