I am trying to monitor MTS activity on our web server which is a Windows 2000 machine running IIS, COM+ and SQLServer 2000.

I have chosen to create a Visual Studio Analyzer project on my local NT PC which already has a project connected to the server. When I try to add a machine to the analyzer project I get a mesaage saying 'Visual Studio Analyzer was unable to connect to the machine. Check it is powered on (doh!)...'

The server seems to be fine . It has a valec.exe process running, I set the security through dcomcnfg, added a registry key on both server and client but still no connection.

I hope somebody has solved the same problem and can help me out.

Once again a Microsoft tool has whipped me into a violent rage. I'm off to the roof with my high powered rifle.
