I need help installing and (especially) configuring MySQL and PHP. I have KDE, will that make a difference? I need to know what to open them with when I download. I've been using Advanced Editor but it doesn't seem to be working. After I download MySQL I just have a directory but no files, and when I go to it says they don't even have UNIX/Linux downloads! I've studied Perl and now I want to learn PHP and MySQL, but without the software I don't even want to get started. Please help! Thanks. Computers - Can't live with 'em, can't live without 'em! No, does not keep track of binaries for Linux. A lot of places don't.

You can try rpmfind.net, or the download page maintained by your distribution.

I've installed MySQL both from binaries and from source. I have no opionion one way or the other which is better. If you're comfortable compiling software, do it that way.

I always install PHP from source. It's the only way I can install and configure it with exactly the functions I want. ______________________________________________________________________
