Installing Adobe products

I am attempting to install Adobe Reader and Adobe Flash in Backtrack 5. However when I attempt to the download pages for these programs I receive a pages that says Java is not enabled. However when I go to View --> Preferences in Firefox 22 Java is enabled.

I followed the installation procedure for installing Java located here.

What am I not doing or doing wrong?
