Installing Access97 and Access2000 on the same computer

Does anyone have experience on installing two versions of Access (97 and 2000) on the same machine? My new computer has Office 2000 preloaded. I need to have a copy of Access97 as most of the other database users in my company have Access97. I would like them to use these files without the need to upgrade or having converision problems. If there is any other way to work around this situation, I would greatly appreciate the suggestions.<br>

I have office XP standard on my PC (without access XP/2002).

I upgrade that from Office 97 professional (Which has access). That gives me Access 97 and all other applications XP/2002.

So, I have Access 97 now and I want to upgrade to Access 2000 and only upgrade that application using an Office 2000 professional CD. That would be easier huh?

My end result should be: Office XP standard with Access 2000.

Anyone done this before?
You think I should just scrap what I have and reinstall a new way? Like Install Office 2000 Professional and then upgrade to Office XP standard?

Any comments appriciated.

Install in seperate folders AND begin with Access97 ie Office97!!

Don't think you will find the process works well. Tested and found most times it did not work at all.

I use Access97 on our server via TCP/IP connection from my computer which uses O/S WIN2000 with Office XP. Locally, I run Access 2002 but, when I connect via TCP/IP, I can invoke Access 97 with no problems whatsoever.

While I have not yet tested, I would suggest possible file and printer sharing and try with that. Installing in different folders is NOT a solution.

This has always been messy. I have been running fine with Access 2, Access 97, and Access 2000 on the same computer for some time. Basically, install in separate folders, and when prompted to remove the old version, choose not to.

Dealing with Access 2000 and Access 97 is actually a little messier than that, so follow instructions at:

which will give you details depending on what you have installed already.

Now for the fun part. I can't find anything that says you can do this with Access 2002 and Access 97. Many references to excel/word, but nothing found yet for Access 2002 and Access 97 on same machine.

I am guessing I will just follow my own advice, uninstall everything, and then re-install from the oldest versions to the newest (which actually I have tried a couple times and get a weird error when installing Access 2, and no success for Access 97). OS is XP Pro.

Anyway, best of luck to all.
