Hi:

I am trying to distribute the front end of an Access database application (Access 2010) at work to various computers at my work through runtime. Does using runtime require any other applications to be pre-installed (ie. Microsoft Office standard edition) in order to work. I am asking b/c on some of the machines, I am getting DLL errors, and in some instances, the machine will not even install certain versions of runtime (ie. runtime 2012 will work but 2010 will crash during middle of the installation).

I meant runtime 2013, not 2012.

If you have an access 2010 DB, I recommend using the Access 210 runtime, we have been running it here for as long as it has been available, and it works fine on XP, Vista, Win7 and Win8, It also works with Office 2003-2013!

You will get DLL errors and Office issues if you have referenced specific versions of Office in your application, ensure you use late bindings if you have a multi-version MS Office environment.

Ensure the user hasn't got MS Access installed on their machine (unless they need it), then install the Access 2010 runtime, then apply the Access 2010 SP1, and you may also need the hotfix KB2596585

In fact I just set up a new user today, with Access 2010 Runtime, Office 2013 and Windows 8.1, no install errors, all in-house MS Access ACCDR application are working fine :)
