Installing a new WIC on Cisco 2600 router

Hello Everyone,

I installed an new WIC on a Cisco 2600 router. However, when I do a show int while I am on enable mode, I don't see it. Is there a way to manually define this new interface?

I have been working with 25 Cisco 2610s and 2611s in our Academy since 1999, have never seen it not detect a good WIC.

We use 3 different WICS and they are always listed under "show interface" and "show version".

Are you sure these WICs are for the 2600 routers?

Are you sure they are not zapped/bad?

Which WICs are they and do they need a certain version of the IOS to run.

Go to cisco.com and search the WICs name - it should list which routers they work on and if it has any IOS limitations etc.

There are modules on Ebay for 2524 and 2525 routers that DO NOT work in 2600 routers.

Just a few thoughts.

Thank you for the reply Broda. I figured out how to define the interface. Thank God for the power of google.

First, I went to enable mode. From enable mode, I went to config t. Once I was in config t, I entered the following:

card type t1 1

From there, I went on to configure the interface.
