Hi, I just got a DVD burner and I have never installed one before, can anyone help me out? I have a CD burner, so I need to take that one out, then I'll install the DVD burner. The only thing I have ever installed is ram and a video card so I am kind of at a loss on how to do this. Any help would be appreciated.

If thats what you intended to do nothing could be simpler.
Pull out the old CDRW, check how it is jumpered (master or slave) set the DVDRW exactly the same and refit) Thats it.

I was just wondering, the DVDRW is replacing the CDRW, so does that mean you have a second drive installed? a DVDrom? if so a DVDRW and DVD are the perfect pairing for copying on the fly.
If the DVDRW is on it's own then I would leave the existing CDRW in the machine, piggy back the DVDRW making sure jumpers are set, one master, one slave.
Drivers are usually not needed under Windows (standard ATAPI drivers are part of Windows)
Just specialised copying software like Nero etc.

Right now, I have two drives in there. 1 is a DVD rom drive, and the other is a CDR drive. I want to take the CDR drive out. I just need instructions on how to install the new DVDR drive

OK, in basic terms:

1) With the PC off of course, open up your case and detach all the cables from your CD Burner. Make a note on the direction the power cable is attached (with yellow wire on outside).

2) Remove the drive and insert the new DVD burner. Use the same jumper setting that the old CD burner used (master or slave). Your burner should have come with a diagram to show you how to set the jumper. Attach the power and IDE cable (make sure the IDE cable is lined up correctly in the right direction, or you could cause irreversable pin damage).

3) Turn the PC on and go into your BIOS setup (look for the command on the POST screen to enter, which is usually F1, F2, DEL, or ESC). Verify that the DVD burner shows up.

4) Exit the BIOS and start Windows. Like paparazi said, drivers are not necessary (optical drives use built-in firmware). Windows will automatically detect and configure the drive.

5) Install any burning software that came with your drive and reboot.

Broken down for ya! That should be all you need to do.
