hi all-
i'm _very_ new to linux, but i did manage to install slackware onto an old pc i had laying around. now i'd like to add a network card to the box, but i'm not really sure how to proceed. i found the ifconfig command, but didnt see the network card listed when i did a

ifconfig -a

once i manage to get the card working, i'd like the box to access the internet through a lynksys router i have hooked up to my DSL modem.

any advice, even the names of some commands or programs i might use to get started, will be greatly appreciated!

don't know slackware too well buy after inserting the card into the machine, as long as it's fairly generic, it should be autodectected like any other linux version that I've worked with, then I'd guess that you'd either use netconfig or linuxconf to set up the networking.

thanks for the tip, but i'm still having problems. the device isn't being autodetected, and netconfig isn't finding it (it allways locates some network when i probe, but its some kind of weird bogus card that shows up even when mine is out).
oh, and i can't find a program called linuxconf [sadeyes]
