Hi Ppl,

We are having problems with installing a jukebox on an NT 4.0 Server.

After many problems with tapes and the server crashing we have been told to delete the jukebox and reconfig using jbconfig. This works ok untill you come to..

Pathname of the control port? at which point your meant to enter as the correct name appears in brackets.

Doing this an error comes up saying

There appears to be something incorrect about your driver installation. Plese consult your driver documentation to help you troubleshoot your installation.

Anyone had this problem? We arnt sure if we have a hardware problem or software here

i think you should delete/move to somewhere else, the windows drivers for the robot.
once you have done that, run a jbconfig in a dos box on your nt server. this will install the robot without any problems.
this is because of the plug and pray options.

Try running 'inquire' from \nsr\bin. It should list all SCSI devices visible for the server. If inquire can't find your library neither will jbconfig. You can also try 'inquire -c' or 'inquire -l' (L, not i). If you can see the library with 'inquire -l', either run 'jbconfig -l' or, preferrably, change the SCSI id's in the library to be consecutive starting with 1.

Good luck!

Alternatively, rename the existing nsrjb.res, but open the new file in wordpad (yes, not notepad, it won't be as readable).
If you search the file for control port, it will tell you what it was.
If it is too late for that or the nsrjb.res is truncated, then the control port should be the tcp/ip name of the silo.
Make sure you can ping this name from a command line before you use it in Legato.
To get this, you would seem to be adding a silo, it expects something (the control port) to be the brains it passes the commands to.
