Hi folks,

Can you please shead some light on this. I've got a customer who wanted to install a auto printer switch onto LPT2. He purchased a belkin printer switch, but nothing will print through the switch, but when the printer is connected directly to the port he has no problems printing.

I got a new switch and cable and connected it to LPT2 and the printer to the switch and got the same result that is nothing printing when the switch is connected.

Anyone got any ideas? could it be that both of use have purchased a dud switch/cable, or is there some setup I have to perform on the printer?

Please note I have not had a chance to test either switch on a different pc but will be doing so later today or tomorrow.

Thanks in advance,

Comboy

You may have to change the port setting in the Properties of the printer to point to LPT2 instead of LPT1.

When connected directly to the computer, is it connected to LPT2? What kind of printer? Some printers (especially laser printers) don't like "auto" switches.

First sorry about the delay in my reply any help is always welcome.

Have sorted out the error in the fact that the switches that were supplied do not work in XP even though the supplier stated that it would.
I've test both switches with two 98 and a second XP PC and they would only work on 98, I was not 100% sure if I would need to change settings on the printers as their HP and I'm aware that sometimes Bi-directional printer has to be disabled.

Again Thanks for your input and sorry for the late reply.
