Installing 8.1.6 on HP workstation x2000, Win 2K problems

Hello,

I cannot get Oracle 8.1.6 client (or server) to install under Win 2k on an HP workstation x2000. The first window comes up, I click on Install/Deinstall, get an hour glass for a few seconds, then the window goes away. Same behavior for trying to install both client and server, so I know it's not a bad CD. No error, nothing created, no log files, no way to figure out what happened (or didn't in this case). The other 2 buttons on the page work fine.

I used the exact same procedure on HP 4000 and HP 8000 series machines and Oracle installed with no problems.

Any suggestions?
