I noticed the following anomoly today when I was installing v1.1 of the .NET Framework onto a 64bit w2k3 server. 64bit w2k3 won't run 32bit applications using the framework by default so you have to run a script.
The .net framework installation package actually tells you to do this - and the same instructions are available here:
However, there is one big difference: the installation package tells you to run the script after you have finished the installation of the framework; whereas the technet article tells you to run the script before the installation of the framework.
Result: when I tried to run the web app part of the software package I installed it wouldn't browse to the website. So I tried re-installing (this time I ran the script before installing the framework) and the web app worked fine.
is there any way of letting Microsoft know about something like this? Does anyone have any experience of them actually caring?
