Hello. I've been browsing these forums for a while since getting our Norstar system installed, but this is my first post. This community is a great resource.

Here's my issue:

We have an MICS with fiber expansion and I've acquired an 0x16 module to add more extensions to the system.

My question is, can one install a fiber station module such as this 0x16 without powering down the KSU? I have seen people say on this board "always power it down" but other times I have seen it mentioned that "fiber is hot-swappable."

Secondly, if I do need to power it down, what's the safest way to do that? Just pull the plug? I want to follow a proper shutdown procedure if there is one.

Also, if I shut down the KSU, should I shut down my NAM as well? And again, how?

Finally, is there a good set of installation instructions for this module anywhere?

Absolutely, however don't panic if it takes a little longer. Depending on the call volume, and KSU rev., I've had it take up to 10 min for a module to boot up.

Cool!

How will I know when the new station module has booted up?

Of course!

Thanks for the help, everyone! I'll do this on Monday and see how it goes.
