Installer fails

I have an excessively weird and difficult although not terminal problem with my English OFFICE XP Professional. I have it installed and up to date with all the service packs etc. but I have the eerie situation whereby I cannot repair, re-install, or remove (too scared to do this but tried it once) either of my XP Pro, Media Content or Publisher 2002!
Now after batting my head against the wall with Microsoft online I find out that unbeknownst to me I had got an OEM version which is not supported by Microsoft! The firm I bought it of has liquidated and I ended up getting my one and only freebie from the local Microsoft. I was given msicu.exe or the Microsoft installer clean up utility which removes all the registry entries for Microsoft installer compatible files. I execute and:

If you do not want to proceed, please press the 'Exit' button now. Choosing 'Remove' will make the permanent changes.


The utility creates a completely clean environment so the programs have to be installed as though straight out of the shop! I loathe having to do this as many hours are spent bringing them back up to date and I must reset all my downloaded clipart, templates etc.
