I just cleaned a friends computer of a bunch of virus's as well as installed Norton Anti-Virus with security protection and Windows Service Pack 2. I'm running Windows XP Home. After doing all the cleaning and updating I can't dial-out to the Internet. I just get the no dial-tone message. I would guess it's related to the new Service Pack for XP. I've gone and disabled the Norton Security and made sure the firewall was stopped and inactive, as well as disabled the Windows firewall and stopped it's service. What tips do you guys have for me to get the dial-up back and working?

thanks

When it says no dial tone it means no dial tone - make sure the phone cord is plugged into the right port

I agree with percent. It may just be the line. Unplug the line from the back of the pc and plug it into a telephone to see if you get a dialtone. If you do, you may need to troubleshoot the modem. Try to query the modem to make sure it is ok.
