Installed security update 2-14 now XP won't boot

I installed IE security patch dated 2-14-02 (the most recent one) on my XP Home system this morning. Now the system will not boot normally. I can boot into safe mode but it won't let me boot into 'last known good' mode or boot normally.
No other software or hardware has been installed since the last good boot before installing the patch.
Any ideas how I restore to the pre-patch status or how I can uninstall the patch.

I did a system restore from yesterday and got the system back up and running.
