So I've been working on a automation tool to help me document my server. I looked and looked for something out there that suited my needs. I found nothing. So I wrote my own.

Now I would like to test it on other versions. Please look at the code / run the script. I need bug reports, suggestions, etc. Any insight into what you would want to capture about your server.

Thanks.

Greg

PS Always read script and verify their safety before running as root! Mine included.

sera,

I haven't run this particular script yet, but here are a few suggestions off the top of my head:

1. The script says that it's for FreeBSD 5.3. Has it been tested with the current production release, FreeBSD 5.4?

2. Under "View Report", the suggestions are to use vi, nano, or abiword to view the report. Why not use FreeBSD's preferred text editor, ee?

3. This provides more specific information about users and groups than most I've seen, but otherwise a combination of PhpSysInfo ( and a few scripted commands will provide the same information.

These are not criticisms, mind you. I can see where the script could be very useful.
