installation or configuration problem

Hi,

Iam trying to install a c library in AIX and HP Unix .

While running the configure , iam getting the following error message.
configure: error: installation or configuration problem: C++ compiler cannot create executables.

Iam using GCC3.3.2 IN AIX and cc compiler in HP-Unix.

Iam beleiving that ,the error comes from the compiler side not from the new C library side ..

Can any one of you tell me that, what is the meaning of this message and how can we rectify that .
