Good morning, all

I am trying to install Oracle10g Rel. 2 on a Suse Linux 9.3 PC. This is the 64-bit version. I had no problems installing the 32-bit (both Oracle and Suse) but now when I try to install on a 64-bit system I get the following error message:

"Error in invoking target "client_sharedlib" of makefile
'...ins_net_client.mk'."

This occurs when the linking part of the install starts.

Hi, Eric

Error in invoking target ‘client_sharedlib’ of makefile ‘/opt/oracle/product/10gR2/network/lib/ins_net_client.mk’

You're going to have to do more digging in the build logs, that's not enough to go on.

Hi, Eric

I believe the problem is attempting to install Oracle 32-bit on 64-bit SuSE 9.3. Someone from another forum pointed this out to me. I should have realized this when I saw the Oracle download file name. Fortunately, I am able to slip in and out of idiocy without altering world events or harming innocent bystanders. Thanks for your help.
