MIMS is very old and doesn't have a comprehensive set of installation instructions. There are a number of guides, but they are not platform specific and not step-by-step. You should get a Mincom Technical Consultant to do your install.
Ellipse has detailed step-by-step instructions for all platforms. Just read the installation manual in the doc folder on the Ellipse distribution CDs.
Although the instructions are simple and step-by-step, you should still understand what you are doing (just in case you make a mistake). I would only follow the instructions if I understood System Administration (Unix/Windows; had some training in the database I was using (Oracle/SQL*Server); and had experience with the J2EE environment I was using (WebSphere/WebLogic).
If something does go wrong, you may need to contact Mincom and you should allow at least a day turnaround for each problem. And then Mincom could (and does) say "You don't know what you are doing - get a consultant". The cost of doing the install could be huge.
If you want the job done quickly and properly, get a Mincom Consultant.
