Installation is unable to connect MSSQL server using current logon user. Make sure the server is running and the authentication information is correct.

Operating System is Windows XP SP2.
Am using an Administrator Account and Password.

After installing on 2003 server OS, Am unable to connect to the server.

More information required.

What software is installed - CE 8.5, CE 10, BOE-XI (R1), BOE-XI (R2)...?

Are you unable to connect to the MS-SQL database for the CMS / Audit databases - or as a source for your reports...?

Thanks MJR for your respose.
1)The OS is Windows Server 2003
2)Database MSSQL 2000
3)I have created the CE10 database with the ODBC

I have just installed Crystal enterprise10 on our server. I had little problem with the initial installion because the logn was unable to authenticate my user id. I had to type the server name\my user name before it allowed me to continue the installtions. Using the below information

User Name"servername\Web_User"
Password ""
Authentication "Windows NT"

I cannot continue my installation because the Crystal Publishing Wizard cannot authenticate the above information, am stuck now. It come up with the following massage
"NT authentication failed to log you on. Contact the System Administrator to make sure you are a memeber of valid mapped grouped."

Hi,
Have to been able to connect to the CMC?
( Pub Wizard is not the place to start)

When specifying the SqlServer database did you specify using a Trusted Connection?

I used Windows authentication and when I launch the Admin launch Pad it tells me the requested URL could not be retrieved.

connection failed.

conection timed out.

Please help am hot down here.

Sounds like an IIS error not a SQL error...make sure that you have IIS running properly and the default website.

Does this run OK when you are running the launchpad directly on the server - not from a remote workstation..?

Am testing it on the server and seems not work.

My Administrator is saying it has to do with the port number. I checked CMS under CCM and the port no is 6400 he is saying that particular port number is block. Must he grant the port access before URL wiil connect?

The IIS is running ok. I checked the acp, cri and there all in the configuration.

Hi,
CE REQUIRES port 6400 thru 6410 to be open unless you have configured it to use some other set of ports..
Read the docs on working with firewalls..

Actually, Enterprise is setup to use default port numbers when you install it. The reserved port range is 6400 to 6410, so that it deosn't potentially conflict with other apps.

I just setup a system last week where the web server was in a dmz and all other services where behind a firewall on the network. We configured the CMS to listen on port 4600 and communicate on 4601 (used the command line switched -port and -requestPort). The only ports on the firewall that we had to open were these 2 ports; 4600 inbound and 4601 outbound.

You can leave the CMS port to be 6400, I would just suggest using the -requestPort switch and configuring the CMS for a specific port so that you don't have to open a whole range of ports on the firewall.

Hi,
And by default, it assigns those ports randomly ( and will change them at random when it needs to communicate) - that's why you need to specify -port and -requestPort if a firewall is involved..

Please can someone just tell why, I cannot open the Admin luanch pad after intalling crystal enterprise accepting all defualt setting.

You answered it yourself..."My Administrator is saying it has to do with the port number. I checked CMS under CCM and the port no is 6400 he is saying that particular port number is block. Must he grant the port access before URL wiil connect?"

The URL location and/or ports for the CE path are being blocked. Your Admin needs to allow you to access the URL location and/or ports.

Thanks all for your support. My Administrator sorted the issue out. I had to bypass the proxy setting by unchecking it in the internet LAN settings.
