I just downloaded Goldmine to use for the first time and got an installation error as follows:
error 1327.Invalid Drive: Z :\
I am trying to install GoldMine on a Windows XP Professional x64 operating system--the Tech Support at GoldMine told me the program should be compatible...

Have you installed it locally, or on a server???

Are you tryin to execute goldmine through a shortcut or through the exe file in program files folder.

If its through a shortcut, then check the properties.

Where goldmine is saying you have an invalid drive Z.

Do you have a drive Z on your local computer????

Trying to execute through the exec file and no, there is no drive Z

There was an old network connection for a Z drive that I just disconnected now and will try to reinstall

I did try to reinstall after disconnecting the Z drive and restarting the computer, but I still get the same error message.

I attempted to install from a shortcut and got the same thing.
I also got rid of everything GoldMine and tried to reinstall and got the same error.

I have posted on the other site you recommeded.

Thanks very much for your assistance.

Try locating your TEMP folder and emptying it's contents. Maybe some garbage is left over from an old installation routine for GoldMine (or something else). Maybe there is some registry junk left over referring to the Z:\ drive for GoldMine stuff? Look in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\software\Frontrange\ to see if there's anything there at all.. If so, delete the whole FrontRange key (if, indeed, there is no working GoldMine on this machine) and try again.

As for 64 bit operating system compatibility, I don't think XP 64 is even out of Beta at this point, so I am not 100% confident int he support rep's assessment of total compatibility...

That's pretty much what I ended up doing.
There was some registry info left over from my initial attempt at an install so Goldmine kept recognizing that and attempting to install in a Z drive.

The install was successful after clearing everything out and I am up and running.

Thanks again everyone for all of your assistance.
