Is it possible to install Win 98 over XP.
If so how?

Yes its very much so possible. If you have the WinXP installation CD then just pop it in to the CD-ROM Drive and let it autoplay on your Win98 desktop. A beautiful green and blue UI dialog box would appear that would let you choose how would you go about things. Choose Upgrade to WinXP. The installation upgrade will take place and just wait for a few minutes and there you have it a WinXP system upgrade from Win98. One thing to note though, since there are differing hardware driver constraints - go to the website of your pc manufacturer and checkout winxp drivers for your system before you upgrade. All else get carried in winxp - also just a precaution. try to backup your important files to another drive (if you have one) or to other storage media if possible lest you can do is to back things up on a separate folder.

ope dis elps. :)

appy upgradin'!

Thanks for the reply. However, I want to unistall Xp and go back to win 98 as my Eltron P310 firmware ver 2.51 card printer will not work with the drivers in XP.

First off, did you try to get WIn2K drivers and try using those with WinXP? They're so similar you may be able to trick it into working.

Since Win98 is so old, your best bet is to backup important data files, format the hard drive, and install Win98 from scratch.

Try contacting this person for a suitable driver.

Did you upgrade over 98? Did you change your file system?

You can not uninstall Windows XP Professional if you:
Changed your hard disk configuration; for example, if you have converted from FAT to NTFS or have created new partitions.

Have you looked at these articles to see if anything applies to you.
