I recently bought a refurb Netfinity 5000 server. It came without support. This is my first server and am not sure where to begin setting it up. I am trying to install Win 2000 Advanced Server.
I start the computer with the CD in the drive. A blue dos screen comes up with "Windows 2000 Setup" in the upper left. In the bottom left corner, I see file names scrolling by. After a minute or two, a new screen comes up:
"Welcome to Setup. This portion of the setup prepares MS Windows 2000 to run on your computer. 1. To setup Windows 2000 now, press enter. 2. To repair a Windows 2000 installation, Press R. 3. To quit Setup without installing Windows 2000, press F3."
I press ENTER and the next window appears:
"Setup did not find any hard disk drives installed in your computer. Make sure your hard disk drives are powered on and properly connected to your computer, and that any disk-related hardware configuration is correct. This may invovle running a manufacturer-supplied diagnostic or setup program. Setup cannot continue. To quit setup, press F3."
Hitting F3 reboots the computer.
I haven't had much luck on the IBM site. I have 2 hard drives installed on this machine in bays 1 and 2 and have tried moving them to bay 3 and 4. Any suggestions what I should do to troubleshoot?
Thanks.
