Hi,
I am trying to install an old hard drive in my XP pro PC, but I cant get the PC to recognise it properly.
I have updated my BIOS and that sees the second disk OK, the pc boots into windows OK, but disk manager cannot see the new disk. LIkewise Explorer cannot see it. I have tried to scan for new hardware, but again no joy.
PC is a 2.7 Ghz pentium 4 512mb ram. PC is less than 3 months old.
Any help would be gratefully apreciated
Steve G

Did you set your first drive as the Master and the second drive as a slave???

If it is an old hard drive with data on, you may need to change the default type in the BIOS from LBA to LARGE (or the other option); for that drive only; rebooting each time to Windows, until you find the correct disk geometry translation. Do you know if the drive was originally used with disk overlay software?

Andy.
