Install question Upgrading from V6.5 to V9

I just purchased the ArcServe v9 for windows NT upgrade. I am upgrading from v6.5. I am trying to install now and when I get to the screen where I can select the products to install i try to select the top one "Brightstor ArcServe Backup" and get this message;
Setup has detected an older version of Arcserve is installed. This version of arcserve can not be upgraded by the current version. please uninstall & reinstall Brightstor Arcserve backup.
So what exactly do I need to do? Uninstall the old version?

You need to uninstall the arcserve 6.5 from control panel add/remove program,remove the registry hive ComputerAssociates,restart the machine and resume the installation of AS 9.0

You cannot upgrade straight from 6.5 to 9. You would need to upgrade to 6.61, then to 9. This is because the raima database used in 6.5 is not compatible with 9. However, there is a utility that can upgrade the database in 6.61.

Bear in mind that if you uninstall 6.5 to install 9, you will lose your database.
