Install Problem with SK98

I had SK98 installed on a laptop (running XP Home) that I was using for invoicing and client maintenance, and the video card died over the weekend. I had intended to temporarily install SK98 to my graphics processing computer (running "real" XP) and use the backed up data files, but have been unable to get the installation file to unpack on the XP machine.

I also have a complete directory installation of SK saved on disk, so plan two was to try and copy that entire directory to the new computer--something I've had decent luck with when using earlier, simple programs that don't plant files outside their own directory during an install.

However, I get an error message when trying to start SK from such an installation, telling me that timesync.dll is missing (which it indeed is). Don't know how that wasn't included when I copied the old installation, but that's what I'm dealing with.

I tried to locate a copy of timesync.dll online, but no such luck.

Anyone know of a source for this dll, or lacking that, another program that perhaps can import Sk data files? I tried Okna's Desktop Set 6.5 last night, but it was pretty funky!

Thanks--
Ron

Dear RonHildebrand,

The Sidekick98 file will install perfectly well on XP Vista and Windows7 but you do have to follow the instructions to the letter otherwise you will have problems that you then have to solve before you can go through the procedure again.

Otherwise the answer is to get the CD which costs money.

All of these things are explained on the website whose address you can find in the FAQ pages at
faq807-3761
If you check around the FAQ pages here and in the posts you will find that you cannot just copy the folders over you have to register all the .dll's too and that is only done when you run the install program.

Check the FAQ area of this Forum for answers (If there are any FAQs!) , it could save you a lot of time and effort! Good Luck!
