Install printer shuts off video

I reformatted my harddrive. i had to install a different video card (Cirrus Logic PCI) because I could not find a driver to work with the T2R card that was in there. The PC is running fine. Until I went to install the printer.I put the software disk in and then it starts to load and THEN The monitor goes blank no signal to it. PC is still on but no signal to the monitor.
So I went to the control panel click on add new hardware, and yes yet again monitor goes blank no signal.
So this PC runs great until you need to add hardware to it
whats up! any ideas please.

We have had many problems with cirrus logic cards and windows98. It sounds like a driver issue of interrupt conflict. But since you don't seem to get to the install I would check the drivers.
